Ona Mae Jones

Funeral Service for Ona Jones will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at The MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Wyndotte Cemetery.
Ona Mae Jones passed away on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at the age of 94.
The daughter of Elva M. and Edith Ledford Lagers was born December 11, 1924 in Anderson, Missouri. The majority of her childhood was spent in and around the Hart community. There she would also attend school. September 15, 1944 she married Lawrence Jones in Columbus, Kansas. Shortly after their marriage the newly wed couple made their way to California. They lived there for awhile before returning to northeast, oklahoma. Eventually settling in Claremore in the early 1950's. In Claremore she began working as a clerk for Key shoes which eventually became known as Vickers Shoes. She retired in April of 1985.
In her spare time Ona enjoyed many hobbies. She loved working on crafts such as quilting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed fishing and playing bingo when she had the time. However spending time with her family was her true love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elva and Edith; husband, Lawrence, and 9 siblings.
Survivors include her children, Dallas Jones and wife Margie, and Deloris Harris; grandchildren, Thomas Harris and wife Deb, Dee Shriver and husband Terry, Dallas G. Jones and wife Robyn, Michelle McGill and husband Sammy, Jennifer Melton and husband Ronnie, and Jimmy Jones and wife Heather, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Margie Kelly, Maxine Hilliard, Lorita Hutchin, and Robert Lagers.
