Opal Lucille Caffey

Opal Lucille Caffey passed away December 1, 2014 at the age of 94.

The daughter of Silas and Lillie Mason Hale was born January 5, 1920 in Dora Missouri. As a young girl her family moved to Oklahoma settling in the Dewey area. There she attended Dewey High School graduating in 1938. After graduation she met Bayless Wayne Caffey. They married August 23, 1941 in Dewey, Oklahoma. They made their home in Tulsa for a short time before moving to the Keetonville area. In 1970 she opened the "Mode O Day" dress shop in Claremore, and later changed the name to Fashion Crossroads. After retiring in 1985, she took a job at Froman's Texaco working for another 10 years. In 1996 a few years after her husband passed away, she moved to a ranch just southeast of Chelsea. She then spent more time volunteering at places such as the Red Cross, Claremore Indian Hospital and the Claremore Veterans Center. She also found time to enjoy other things such as gardening, working on the ranch with her son Keith, and spending more time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bayless Wayne Caffey; son, Johnny Wayne Caffey and sister, Daisy Hale Goforth.

Survivors include her son, Keith Wayne Caffey and wife Linda of Chelsea; grandson, Frank W. Caffey of Claremore; granddaughter, Katie Jo Caffey of Chelsea; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Heuzel of Oologah; sister, Charlotte Thaxton of Claremore; brothers, Charles Hale, of Travesers City, Michigan, Don Hale and wife Jo of Bartlesville; 6 nieces, 4 nephews and 28 great nieces and nephews.

Opal had a great love for children, and the thought that some children weren't properly fed weighed heavy on her heart. So in Lieu of flowers please make donations in Opal's name to Rogers County Salvation Army/ Food 4 Kids c/o Georgia Bruce, 21555 S. Echo Canyon Rd, Claremore, Oklahoma 74017.
