Funeral service for Opal Dolphine Littleton will be 2 p.m., Wed., Feb. 5, at Chelsea Assembly of God with Pastor Allen Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Opal passed away Sun., Feb. 1, 2015, at Claremore Nursing Home at the age of 92.
The daughter of John Franklin and Neva (Brigwel) Dunsmore was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Dustin. Opal grew up and attended school in Thomas. On July 2, 1938, she married E.L. Littleton. When E.L. went into the service during the war, Opal went to work for the defense plant in Wichita. In 1949, they moved to Chelsea. Opal watched many children over the years, and was known as “Granny Opal”. She also worked at the school and was active in her church, Chelsea Assembly of God. When her children were young the family enjoyed camping together. She loved to visit with family and friends, and being at home. She also enjoyed crocheting, making afghans, sewing dresses, and working puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Imogene Burden; her parents; and her brothers: Clarence, Everett, and Bubby Dunsmore.
Opal is survived by her husband, E.L. of the home; sons: Kenneth Littleton and wife, Linda of Chelsea, and Ron Littleton and wife, Linda of Chelsea; child of the heart, Kevin Hessman and wife, Carolyn of Owasso; sister, Esther Rozell of Chelsea; grandchildren: Mitzie Cromis and husband, Joey, Brenda Warner and husband, Homer, Amy Littleton, and Scott Littleton and wife, Julia; and great-grandchildren: Jimmy, Kenny, Kendra, Travis, Ashley, Katlyn, and Keegan.
