Mr. Knight passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Claremore at the age of 80.
The son of Oren Arthur and Mae Barrett Knight was born September 22, 1931 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He later joined the United States Air force. He served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he returned to Claremore, and began working at American Airlines. He retired after 34 years of service.
Oren was a very unique and interesting man who could talk to anyone. He loved talking about his many adventures, walking the creek beds hunting arrowheads. He also loved hunting for mushrooms, onions, and paw paws to take to Melinda at Dots to cook and distribute among his friends.
When Oren became ill he moved in with Bobby and Melinda; that was no problem because he fit right in. He enjoyed feeding cattle, dogs, cats and playing with their grandchildren. In his last weeks of his life, his nephew Douglas would sit with him for hours and reminisce about old days and things he still wanted to do. We know he is at peace now but he will be truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oren Arthur and Mae Knight, daughter, Adrienne; son, Allen; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include son, Richard Knight and wife Tammy of Tulsa; nephew, Bobby and Melinda Knight of Claremore; grandson, John Knight of Claremore; granddaughter, Emily Knight of Claremore; great-grandson, Caleb Knight; sister, Jackie Redden of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
