Patricia Lee Boyd

 

Patricia Lee Boyd, 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

 

She was born in Warren, Ohio, on March 2, 1931, to Charles Herbert and Mary (Perry) Martin. At the age of 3, she and her family moved back to Oklahoma, settling in Chelsea. Patricia attended Chelsea schools and graduated as a member of the class of 1949. After graduation, she attended Draughon’s Business College in Tulsa.

She began her career in Chelsea working for Fraley's Insurance. It was during this time that she met Garland Boyd Jr., and they married on March 16, 1951, in Claremore. The newlyweds made their home in Winganon, where they helped run Boyd Dairy. As their family grew, Patricia focused on raising their two daughters and was actively involved in their activities. She also played a significant role in raising baby calves for the dairy. As her children became older, she would return to Fraley Insurance, where she worked until her retirement in 1993.

 

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, horseback riding, and the occasional trip. Still, her greatest joy was being with her family.

 

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Joni Boyd Thomas and husband Bobby of Claremore, and Judy Taylor and husband George of Tulsa; grandchildren, Geordon Taylor and wife Marie, Jessica Taylor Patrick, and Justin Taylor; great-grandchildren, Liam and Lennon Patrick, and Alice Taylor.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Herbert and Mary Martin, her husband, Garland Boyd Jr., and her sisters, Wilma Robards and Lynda Hymans. Patricia will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
