Patricia Ann Shafer Dexter, 78, passed away Sunday, August 14th, 2022 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She was born January 27th, 1944 in Byron, Michigan to Aubra and Ruth Durling Shafer.
Pat married the love of her life, Paul, on January 23rd, 1965, after meeting at a family birthday party. The couple later moved to Claremore in 1979, where they raised their three children. They enjoyed many adventures together. Their favorite moments together were hitting the road in their fifth wheel traveling all over the country to visit numerous family and friends. They also loved supporting all of their grandchildren’s activities from sports to scouting to robotics. They were always the biggest fans in the stands. Pat also enjoyed reading, crocheting and writing.
Pat was a member of First United Methodist Church Claremore, serving in many capacities including card ministry, the senior newsletter and her last endeavor on the church history book. Church missions were dear to Pat’s heart. She also served on mission teams outside the church going multiple summers to the Ukraine teaching English. Pat was a teacher for many years, serving in the Claremore Public School District and Swartz Creek School District in Michigan. She loved the children she had the privilege of teaching. She also cherished her many friendships she made during her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Dexter, daughter, Lyn Anne Hipp and grandsons Jacob Dexter and Joshua Dexter.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Dexter and wife Teresa, Of Inola, Oklahoma, Michelle Robinette, of Claremore, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Steve Hipp, of Chelsea, Oklahoma; brother, Bill Shafer and wife Denise of Michigan; sister, Susan Krestar and husband Larry of Michigan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church- Claremore with Dr. Ray Crawford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First United Methodist Church Claremore for Missions or Claremore Public School Foundation.
