Patricia Kathryn Mootry

Service for Patsy Mootry will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sweeten Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, March 26, from 1pm--6pm. Patsy passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was 73.

The daughter of Merle and Blondie Bowers Best was born July 8, 1943 in Inola, Oklahoma. There she was raised on the family farm just south of town. As she became older she attended Inola Schools, where she participated in her favorite sport of basketball. It was also during school that she met Bobby Dean Mootry. They became high school sweethearts, and married on December 26, 1960.

The newlywed couple made their home in Inola, where they would begin raising their family. Over the next several years, Patsy spent all of her time caring for her four boys. However, in 1976 with her youngest child now attending school, Patsy began working as a cook for Inola Public Schools. She retired from there as the Food Service Director in 2000.

Patsy was also very dedicated to the Lord and loved her church family. She and her husband were one of the founding families of Calvary Baptist Church. There she was active as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, and she also loved her ladies’ Sunday School class. She loved youth and spent many years as a volunteer at Falls Creek, not only as a sponsor, but also as a cook.

Over the years, Patsy also enjoyed many other past times and hobbies. When her kids were young, there were many weeks spent camping at Ft. Gibson lake. She and Bob enjoyed traveling and collecting antique dishes. She also was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. A few of her most sought after dishes were stew, fried pies, hot rolls, and custard.

She is preceded in death by her parents Merle and Blondie Best; husband Bob Mootry, and great granddaughter, Hadleigh Lyons.

Survivors include her sons, Marvin Mootry and wife Marcea, Nathan Mootry and wife Kim, Jon Mootry and wife Tracy, and Jason Mootry and wife Shannon, all of Inola; grandchildren, Page Mootry, Candace Adams and husband Brandon, Taylor Mootry, Lisa Jones, Raymond Peterson, Nicole Flanagan and husband Evan, Natalie Bell and husband Joel, Hilary Hobbs and husband Evan, Kyle Mootry, Kristen Mootry, Hunter Mootry, Cortney Dill, and Addison Mootry; great-grandchildren, Zane, Rayden, Paisley, Conway, Brock, Blake, Emma, Megan, Travis, Jase and Breelyn; brother, Virgil Best and wife Loretta; sisters, Sandra Bynum and husband Mike, and Merlene Bocock and husband Butch; sister-in-law, Deborah Keener and husband Junior, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
