Funeral service for Patricia "Pat" Crews will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lone Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 6-8 p.m.
Patricia Irene Crews known to many as Pat and Nanny, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the age of 73.
The daughter of Ellis and Edith Cloud Anderson was born July 8, 1941 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She attended McAlester High School. Graduating as a member of the class of 1960. It was also around this time that she met Larry Gean. To this marriage four children were born. Then around 1968, Pat and her family moved to Claremore. She took a job driving a school bus for Claremore Public Schools, which she is most remembered for. Several years later, Pat decided to have a change of pace. She worked for a couple of local companies such as Agrico, and Alleghany Ludlum, before following her heart to become a caregiver. This led her to Claremore Regional Hospital and later to the Rogers County Adult Daycare Center. In the early 1990's Pat met Hubert Crews. They would marry in 1991. They had many things in common, one of which was the love of arts and crafts. This led them to open Wood "N" Stuff Craft store. There she sold many of her own hand made projects. Family and friends were the most important thing in Pat's life. It was evident in everything she did. She loved sewing and quilting baby blankets for each and every new addition to the family as well as gardening and painting. She devoted her life to family and caring for others in the community. Pat never met a stranger and had more friends than anyone could dream of.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Edith Anderson, step mother Bea Anderson, sister Evelyn Anderson; grandson Kolt Hawkins, great-grandson, Ryan Bruce, nephew, Jon Anderson and niece Lani Anderson.
Survivors include her husband Hubert of the home; children, Patty Smith and husband Lawrence of Claremore, Peggy Lewin and husband Keith of Long Island, NY, Jayme Gean of Claremore, Clint Gean and wife Dena of Claremore, Robin Hawkins and husband Bob of Claremore, Julie Crissman and husband Larry of Claremore, and David Crews of Claremore; grandchildren, Shally, Tasia, Clay, Corey, Jake, Brennan, Riley, Parker, Chelsie, Ethan, Kinley, Kord, Frankie, Adam, Lexi and Alexandra Lily; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Madelynn, Evelynn, Camille, Rhyan and Haven, and siblings, Ellis Anderson, Bill Anderson, James Anderson, Rita Attebury, Jackie Campbell and Gloria Bagley.
