Funeral service for Paul Wayne "Zeke" Turner will be 11 a.m., Fri., June 21, at Inola United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-7 p.m.
Paul died Tues., June 18, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 80.
The son of Will Allison and Maco (Edmiston) Turner was born Oct. 25, 1932, in Rose. He grew up in Rose and graduated from Oaks Indian School in 1950 where he was valedictorian of his class. He served in the U.S. Army durin the Korean War. Through his brother he met Dorothy Rhoda Holding. They were married in 1956, in Tulsa. They made their home in several different areas before settling in Inola in 1968. Paul worked as a machinist for Rockwell, Boeing, McDonnell-Douglas before going to work for American Airlines where he retired after many years of service. He also worked for the Steel Mill in Sand Springs for 10 years. While working for Rockwell Paul worked on the capsule for the Apollo Space mission. The capsule he worked on was for the first Apollo to land on the moon. Paul enjoyed gardening, reading, watching his children's sports, and watching Oklahoma college football, especially OU. He was a member of Inola United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons: David and Richard Turner; and siblings: Faye Gleason, Buster Turner, Glen Turner, Melvin Turner, and Ken Turner.
Paul is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home; sons: Michael Turner and wife, Martina of Chatsworth, CA, and Drew Turner and wife, Janet of Inola; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Turner of Inola; and grandchildren: Zeke, Lindsay, Luke, Braden, and Anna Turner.
