Funeral service for Paula Rae Stalcup will be 10 a.m., Wed., June 4, at Memorial United Methodist Church, Chelsea, with Pastor David Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Winganon Cemetery, Chelsea, under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m.
Paula passed away Thurs., May 29, 2014, at Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 67.
The daughter of Raymond and Rosa "Pauline" (Hightower) Coffman was born Aug. 10, 1946, in St. Louis, MO. Paula grew up in Kansas City, MO, Springfield, MO, and Denver, CO, where she graduated from high school in 1964. Paula met Timothy Stalcup while he was training at Lowry Air Force Base. They were married on Nov. 24, 1966, in Aurora, CO. They lived all over the U.S. and in Germany while Timothy served in the Air Force until he retired. They eventually made their home in Phoenix where they raised their children. Paula was a textbook mother and homemaker. She loved her family and devoted all her time to caring for them. She was a baseball team mother and ROTC mother while her children were growing up. She raised many children through the years, and it was not unusual to find their house filled with children spending the night. From a young age Paula was a talented musician. At the age of 4 she began playing piano. After her children were grown she became the pianist for the choir director of Trevor Brown High School in Phoenix, along with playing piano and organ at Calvary United Methodist Church. She was skilled at playing many instruments including the guitar, oboe, flute, cello, violin, and clarinet. In 2008, Timothy and Paula moved to Chelsea. Paula played piano at Epworth United Methodist Church, and has played for the past several years at her church, Memorial United Methodist Church.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters: Wilma and Donna.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy of the home; children: Lisa Me'Chaele Carter and husband, Arthur of Phoenix, AZ, and Timothy Raymond Stalcup and wife, Amy of Panama City, FL; siblings: Betty Dohack of St. Louis, MO, and Alvia McBride and wife, Tamoco of Bothell, WA; grandchildren: Alexis Barringer and husband, Michael, Mariah Stalcup, Timothy Raymond Stalcup, II, Brittany Rae Stalcup, Meghan Leigh Carter, Shelby Michael Carter, and Jordan Skyler Carter; and great-granddaughter , Haiydenn Mae Barringer.
