Funeral service for Peggy Irene Haynes will be 2 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 28, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Pastor John Vanaman officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Peggy passed away Sun., Feb. 24, 2013, at her home at the age of 68.
The daughter of Stanley Walton and Dorothy Evelen (Railey) Roberts was born Nov. 25, 1944, in Claremore. She attended Claremore and Sequoyah schools. She graduated from Sequoyah High School in the early '60's, and married Tommy Thompson. Peggy was a longtime beautician in Claremore. She owned Hair Flare and later, Cut-n-Curl. Peggy later married Roy Haynes. Her last job was working for the Cherokee Nation in Catoosa. Peggy loved playing slot machines, and enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, going to Branson, and remodeling houses. She was a foster parent to numerous children in the Cherokee Nation.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents; and siblings: Stanley Roberts, Jimmy Roberts, Michael Roberts, and Patricia Roberts.
She is survived by her children: Tommy Thompson of Claremore, Becky Thompson of Milan, MI, and Patty Thompson of Claremore; siblings: Clyde Roberts of Chelsea, Doris Wiley of Claremore, Brenda Roberts of Claremore, and Sally Shadrick of Claremore; grandchildren: Chris T. Thompson, Tammy Sue Johannesen, Casey Dee, Jennifer Friend, Robin Nix, Steven Kirk, Felicia Tecumseh, and Johnathon Dudley; great-grandchildren: Zachery, Dakota, Kylie, Matthew, Anna, Joshua, Laveigh, Benjamin, Brett, Austin, Matthew, Mackenzi, Cheyenne, Stoney, and Trip; foster child, Allen; and numerous other foster children.
