Graveside services for Peggy Nell Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at McLaughlin Cemetery in Cleora. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. with the family present to greet friends at MMS-Payne Funeral Service in Claremore. 102 West 5th St. Claremore, Ok 74017

 Peggy passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 93.

Born on November 25, 1931, to George and Margaret (Landrum) Brewster, Peggy was raised in Cleora, Oklahoma, where she attended school and played basketball. She graduated with the Class of 1949. After high school, Peggy began working in a hair salon in Vinita. It was there she met Gene Johnson, and the two began a courtship that would lead to their marriage in 1951.

The couple made their home in Afton, Oklahoma, where they raised their family. Peggy was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Afton and was deeply involved in her community. She had a talent for hosting family gatherings and loved nothing more than cooking meals and spending time with her loved ones. A gifted seamstress, Peggy created beautiful works of art through her sewing and crafting skills.

Above all, Peggy’s greatest joy was her family. Her love, care, and wisdom created a bond that will remain with her family for generations to come.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret Brewster, and her siblings: Pansy Brewster, Wanna Beach, Jack Brewster, Leroy Brewster, Lena Jackson, Bill Brewster, Oleta Barnes, Ina Harrison, and Louella Palmer.

She is survived by her children, Sherry McCulley and husband Joe, Lisa Girten and husband Jim, and Angie Henry. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Brian Lovelace and wife Kelly, Michael Lovelace and wife Danielle, Kendall Kile and husband Atlee, Justin Pearsall and husband Nathan, Corey Henry and wife Echo, Shea Henry, Dusty Henry and wife Kelcee, and Zach Henry; sister, Jeannie Crawford and husband Loyd; Peggy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

Peggy’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family, and her legacy will be treasured by all who knew her.
