Peter Anderson, Jr. passed away at his home on Friday, April 17, 2020. He was 83.
Pete was born November 28, 1936 in Brownsville, Texas to Peter Anderson, Sr. and Grace Ann (Kiddy) Anderson. He went to school all over the world, including Austria and Italy. He finished up at Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, Oklahoma. Pete sold insurance for a while before starting his career with American Airlines. After retiring he continued to work as a contract instructor, working in the US, France, and Russia. He also taught Sunday School classes for many years at Southeast Free Will Baptist Church in Tulsa and New Hope Church of God in Claremore. He and Karon also volunteered with the youth group, mentoring and helping wherever needed. Pete also volunteered for the P.A.L. program, mentoring boys in Rogers County, being named mentor of the quarter.
Always with a heart to help and teach, Pete tutored people to pass their citizenship tests to become American Citizens. He further volunteered at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, where he gave tours. He was a natural tour guide with his wealth of knowledge and experience, even bringing visitors to tears with his endearing stories of his grandmother and mother who worked in the factories just like "Rosie the Riveter". Pete was always willing to help anybody with their computer problems and give a listening ear to those who needed a friend. Always teaching, he taught his kids and grandkids how to swim, dive in the pool, drive, and use the computer. He shared Bible stories and rich words of wisdom to those of us who needed it. We should all learn from his example and pay it forward by helping, listening, and giving from the heart.
Those family members that survive include his wife Karon of 60 years; his daughters Debbie Anderson Long and husband Eric, and Julie Anderson Rose and husband Chris; sisters Diann Nichols, Anel Poor, Darlene Thornton; brother Clark Stevens; granddaughters Kjerstine Gordan, Kelsey Ketcher, Cristin Rose, and Mabrey Rose; grandson Lincoln Rose; 9 great grandchildren.
