Funeral service for Freda Fern "Pug" Leathers will be 2 p.m., Wed., May 16, at Epworth United Methodist Church, Chelsea, with Rev. Lester Mullis officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 9 a.m.-noon.
Pug died Fri., May 11, 2012, at Forrest Manor Nursing Home, Dewey, at the age of 95.
The daughter of John R. and Julia Martin was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Chelsea. She attended Sunnyside and Condry schools, before staying home to help take care of her family. On Jan. 12, 1938, Pug married Roy Lee Leathers and they made their home in Chelsea. She was a homemaker, and a great cook. She enjoyed sewing, watching the birds, her flowers, and working crossword puzzles.
Pug is preceded in death by her husband, Roy in 1977; son, Randy Leathers in 2006; her parents; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
Survivors include her daughters: Joyce Schmoll and husband, Jerry of Tulsa, and Judy Hudgens of Bartlesville; grandchildren: Scott Schmoll and wife, Cari of Sperry, Doug Schmoll of Tulsa, Tim Schmoll and wife, Lisa of Granby, MO, and Mike Hudgens and wife, Tammy of Dewey; great-grandchildren: Kimberly Alexander and husband, Justin, Kali Schmoll, and Trevor Hudgens; and great-great-grandson, Mason Alexander.
