Graveside service for R.W. "Dick" Kidd will be 10:00a.m., Friday, September 29, 2017 at Floral Haven Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, September 28 from 1:00p.m.--6:00p.m. Dick passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017. He was 84.
Born July 28, 1933 in Montrose, Colorado to Arthur and Blanch (Topliss) Kidd, Dick moved with his family at a very young age to Hawthorne, California and attended high school at Lawndale. He received technical training in electronics, metallurgy and welding at El Camina Junior College. The same year he graduated from school, Dick began working for North American Aircraft as a structural mechanic at what was then the Los Angeles Division. He was promoted to a technical field service representative on the F-100 program, and later served as supervisor of Assembly & Welding on the B-70 program. In 1966, he and his wife Ann transferred to Tulsa where he was assigned to the Apollo program in the Service Module/SLA bonding area. Prior to his new assignment, he was a supervisor in the B-1 program office representing Manufacturing. In 1974 Dick was named manager of Bonding and Plastics at Rockwell International Tulsa Division.
Although his passion was aircraft, he was an avid hunter and outdoor sportsman. Dick also enjoyed traveling whenever possible.
Those family members that survive include his wife Denise Kidd of their home; his children Barbara Ellis and husband John of Tulsa, Sherry Kidd, Vickie Kidd and Ricky Kidd all of California; step children Denisa Selph and husband Robbie of Sapulpa and Tui Marshall; grandchildren Juliana Selph, Laurel Selph, Caroline Selph, Meredith Selph and Allie Marshall; his sister Rosie Mercer also of California.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and wife Ann.
