Funeral service for Rachel Elizabeth Thompson will be 2 p.m., Fri., April 27, at the First Christian Church of Chelsea with Rev. Richard Billings officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory.
She died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Sequoyah Pointe Nursing Home, Owasso, at the age of 88.
The daughter of John William and Goldie (Hacker) Davis was born August 30, 1923, in Big Cabin. She attended school in Big Cabin. Rachel married Earl “Tuck” Harrell and they made their home in Chelsea, before moving to Tulsa. Rachel attended the Christian Church, and was baptized as a child in Vinita. She was a homemaker, and had worked part-time at Sallisaw Schools. Rachel enjoyed sewing and crocheting, making clothes for her grandchildren’s dolls. She also enjoyed cooking and making candies. After Tuck passed away, Rachel married Dewey Thompson.
Rachel is preceded in death by her first husband, Tuck Harrell, second husband, Dewey Thompson, her parents, her son, Larry Harrell, step-daughter, Barbara Riggs, brothers: Jay, Bob, and Dell Davis, and her sisters: Jennie Eckle, Eva Goins, Goldie Thornton, and Bonnie Woods.
She is survived by her children: Cynthia Walters of Owasso, Billy Harrell and wife Linda of Tulsa, and Vernon “Butch” Harrell and wife Sandra of Chouteau, step-sons: Jim Thompson and wife Joyce of Stigler, and David Thompson and wife, Judy of Shawnee, grandchildren: Terry Walters, Debbie Thompson, Donna Walton, Spencer Harrell, Lindsay Starr, Larry Harrell, Jr., Ross Harrell, David, Carla, Ben, Leanne, Tiffany and Travis Thompson, and Jennifer Riggs, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
