Funeral service for Ralph Eugene Chambers will be 1 p.m., Wed., Aug. 8, at Chelsea Assembly of God with Revs. Dean Bridges and Allen Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Winganon Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m.
Ralph died Sat., Aug. 4, 2012, at his home at the age of 59.
The son of Jess and Willia (Hornbeck) Chambers was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Humansville, MO. He was raised in rural Missouri, where he attended Stockton High School. He was a member of the graduating class of 1971. After graduation Ralph became a heavy equipment operator. The next several years Ralph worked in many places through out the country. Working for International Union of Operating Engineers local 101 building highways. In the mid-80's Ralph moved to Chelsea. It was there that he met Joyce Pope-Hayes. They were married November 14, 1988 in Miami. Over the next several years Ralph worked Hickory Coal, Phoenix Coal and most recently for Nowata County driving a road grader. Ralph enjoyed playing and coaching baseball, playing slow pitch softball, boating, fishing, waxing cars, and mowing lawns.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Paul Chambers.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; son, Todd Chambers and wife, Tiffany of Chelsea; step-daughters: Wendy Miller of Chelsea, and Shanda Wright and Joey Allen of Owasso; brother, Terry Chambers of Greenfield, MO; sister, Shirley Lambeth and husband, Ray of Greenfield, MO; sisters-in-law: Karen Freeman and husband, Kenny of Nowata, Linda Davis and husband, Fred of Claremore, Sharon Hopkins and husband, Terry of Nowata, Clara Radar of Nowata, Kathy Moreland of Chelsea, Debbie Mitchell of Chelsea, and Jean Pope of Chelsea; brother-in-law, Tom Pope and wife, Ellen of Chelsea; and grandchildren: Braden and Lexi Chambers, Darrin Shanholtzer, Logan Miller, and Madison and Zack Wright; and great-grandchildren: Chole and Dawson Shanholtzer.
