Memorial service for Ralph L. Smith will be 1 p.m., Mon., July 30, at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Mathews officiating.
Ralph died Wed., July 25, 2012, in Sherman, TX, at the age of 84.
The son of J. Frank and Myrtle Francis (Clasppel) Smith was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Adair. He attended Bittercreek School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 10, 1948, Ralph married Bertie Louise Boykin in Chelsea. They made their home in Adair, where Ralph helped to build the baseball field. Ralph retired after many years with the Local Iron Workers Union #584. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, antiquing in Canton, TX, and hunting with his quail dogs. Ralph also enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family in Texas. He repaired clocks, and was always doing something for friends.
Ralph is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Wooters; sons: Michael Ray and Johnny Edward Smith; his parents; sister, Hester Hall; and brothers: Bill, Roy, Frank Jr., Dave, Sam, and L.C. Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Bertie of the home; grandchildren: Kimberly Michelle Randolph of Oakland, CA, Johnny Ray Randolph and wife, Treasea of Wagoner, Brian Wooters of Dallas, TX, and Matthew Wooters of Richmond, TX; great-grandchildren: Hagler and Morgan Randolph, Elliott and Sabra Scribner, and Wyatt Wooters; and sister, Betty Francis and husband, Jim of Broken Arrow.
