Funeral services for Ray Kenneth Casey will be 10:00a.m., Monday, December 8, 2014 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, December 7, from 1pm—6pm, with family receiving visitors from 2pm—4pm. Kenneth passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the age of 96.
Ray “Kenneth” Casey was born May 9, 1918 in Claremore, Oklahoma to James Calvin “Jim” and Bertha (Wallis) Casey. He was reared and educated in his birth community attending Harmony Star, Justus and Sequoyah schools. He graduated from Sequoyah High School in the mid 30’s. He joined the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. While still in the Army, he met his future bride, Ethelyn B. Padgett. The couple married and began their life together living in Claremore. Kenneth was an electrician by trade and worked for the City of Claremore and later for PSO. He retired from PSO in 1980. Following the passing of Ethelyn, Kenneth later married Leona Terry and the couple made their home in Vinita.
A collector of antiques, Kenneth enjoyed looking for that unique treasure to add to his extensive collection. While he was in school, he loved playing baseball and when he was older he loved watching it on TV. Kenneth was most happy spending time with his family. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vinita.
Those family members that survive include his daughter Jackie Campbell and husband C.E. Cotton of Claremore; 2 step children; his grandchildren Shelli Reed and husband Tommy of Harrah, Oklahoma, Mark E. Campbell and wife Ashly of Muskogee and Derek Ray Campbell also of Harrah; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; his sisters Opal Payne and Mary Bridwell and husband Ralph all of Claremore and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his wives Ethelyn and Leona; his brother Calvin Casey; his sister Florence Wolfington and a step son.
