Funeral service for Marshall "Ray" Morgan will be 11 a.m., Tues., Oct. 7, at Washington Baptist Church with Pastor Charlie Lehman officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Army will follow at Dawes Cemetery, Chelsea, under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-7 p.m.
Ray passed away Thurs. evening, Oct. 2, 2014, at his home at the age of 80.
The son of William Newton and Myrtle Rebecca (Wagner) Morgan was born May 24, 1934, in Stigler. While in high school Ray participated in FFA. He graduated from Stigler High School in 1951. He continued his education at Eastern Oklahoma A&M in Wilburton where he received his Associate's degree in Business Administration in 1954. On Aug. 14, 1954, Ray married Helen June Gulley at Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa. Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59. He then went to work for Tulsa Public Schools as a maintenance coordinator until his retirement. Ray and Helen made their home in Tulsa until 1970 when they moved to Chelsea. Ray was then able to pursue his love of ranching. Ray was a member of Washington Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Boyd, Earl, and Gene Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; sons: Dan Morgan and wife, Sheri, and Gerald Morgan and wife, Lauri all of Chelsea; brother, Pat Morgan and wife, Edna of Chouteau; and grandchildren: Derrick Morgan and wife, Amelia, and Mattie Morgan.
