Raymond Garis

Memorial service for Raymond Leon Garis will be 3:00pm Friday, April 22, 2016 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Raymond passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the age of 61.

Born September 12, 1954 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Roy Charles and Katherine (Vandagriff) Garis, Raymond was reared and educated in the communities of Winganon and Chelsea. He graduated from high school with the class of 1972 from Chelsea and continued his education by attending Northeastern State University. It was here that he earned his Bachelor's degree and later on his Master's degree in education. Raymond taught at several schools, including Choteau, Inola, Sequoyah, Oologah and Rogers State, he retired around 2005. During his retirement he worked for Car-Mart and most recently was working for Office Everything.

Raymond's hobbies were many and varied. He enjoyed a good game of golf, fishing, riding motorcycles and woodworking.

Those family members that survive include his children Karen Toliver and husband Will of Owasso and Robert Garis of Claremore; his grandchildren Alyssa and Logan Toliver. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Garis.
