Raymond O. Hinds
January 6, 1939 — June 5, 2015
Services for Raymond Hinds will be held 10:00 a.m Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Church of God 7th Day. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of the MMS-Payne Funeral Service and Crematory. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2015 from 1-8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Raymond passed away Friday, June 5th 2015 at the age of 76.
The son of Charles and Martha Garrett Hinds was born January 6, 1939 in Inola, Oklahoma. As a young boy his family moved to various places. This took Raymond to several different schools such as, Inola, Wilcox, Pryor and lastly to Claremore where he attended High School. It was while in Claremore that he first became acquainted with Wilma Harris. They married June 25, 1960 in Claremore. They made their home in Claremore where he was working for McFarland Plumbing. That's where he learned to operate a backhoe. This learning opportunity worked great for Raymond, because just a few years later in 1968 he started Hinds Construction. He began taking on any work that he could. Everything from digging footings to building swimming pools. Everyone that knew Raymond would agree that work was one of his favorite pastimes. So in 1981 he and Wilma opened Wilma's Pool and Patio.
Raymond was also dedicated to his family and friends, After his son Scott's accident in 1988, Raymond made sure that all his needs were properly cared for. When other family members needed a hand, he was always there to help, and give advice.
His other hobbies included traveling, relaxing at Grand Lake, taking care of his cattle and working on old cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Martha Hinds; brother, Dugan Hinds, and sisters, Eletha Johnston and Mary Green.
Survivors include his wife Wilma of the home; sons, Stoney Hinds and wife Ginger of Claremore, Scott Hinds of Claremore, Stacy Hinds and wife Suzi of Claremore, and Bill Hinds and wife Keri of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, Angela Harges of Choteau; brother Charles Hinds and wife, Gayle; and grandchildren, Colton, Jordon, Kaleb, Bradley, Cheyanne, Wesley, Mckenzie, Zachary, Morgan, Macy, Shaedi, Linda and Aaron.
