Funeral service for Raymond Lee Johnson will be 10 a.m., Mon., April 5, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Pastor Charles Ragland officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Richland Cemetery, Richards, MO. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Fri. 1-6 p.m.
Raymond died surrounded by Steve and Susan and his beloved caregivers on Tues., March 30, 2010, at the Claremore Nursing Home at the age of 88.
The son of Walter and Gertrude (Higgins) Johnson was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Richards, MO. He grew up in Ft. Scott, KS, and played the fiddle in high school. On June 8, 1940, Raymond married Margaret Irene Schaulis in Ft. Scott. They made their home in Claremore in 1963, and Raymond worked for Frisco Railroad for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. The last seven years of Raymond’s life he was at the Claremore Nursing Home. He was the light of the life of the nursing home staff, and always had a good word and a smile for the residents.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; and sister-in-law, Margie Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Steve Johnson and Susan Liebl of Tulsa; and nephew, Bobby Johnson of Ft. Scott.
