Funeral service for Rex Daniel Cecil will be 2 p.m., Fri., May 14, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Tom Tidwell officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Rex died Mon., May 10, 2010, at Southcrest Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 66.
The son of Rex Orland and Dorothy “Eileen” (Sills) Cecil was born Dec. 3, 1943, in Lewisville, OH. Rex grew up in Lewisville, graduating from Skyvue High School in 1961. While in high school Rex enjoyed running track and playing basketball. He moved to Tulsa around 1965. On July 2, 1970, he married Saundra Lou Fields. Rex worked for Field’s Manufacturing Company for 15 years, driving truck and building RV’s and campers. He later worked as a maintenance supervisor for several commercial apartment complexes. Rex enjoyed spending time with his children, going back to Ohio to see family and friends, and going to the casino.
Rex is preceded in death by his wife, and parents.
He is survived by his children: Elizabeth Owings and husband, Gary of Chelsea, James Kennedy of Lexington, Layton Kennedy and wife, Tina of Claremore, Danny Cecil and wife, Brandi of Broken Arrow, and Loralee Taylor and husband, Joe of Claremore; siblings: Patricia Allene Fields and husband, Jerry of Claremore, Donna Mae Grubb and husband, Virgil of Lewisville, OH, Donna Jean Jones and husband, Roger of Woodsfield, OH, Robert Virgil Cecil and wife, Linda of Woodsfield, OH, and Shelia Kay Cole and husband, Steve of Glenpool; sister-in-law, Ines Lucille Hix of Tulsa; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
