Graveside service for Richard Blalock, Sr. will be 1:00p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Peoria Cemetery. Richard passed away on August 24, 2024, at his home. He was 71.
Richard Allen Blalock, born on February 22, 1953, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Harold Eugene and Norma Lee (Tidwell) Blalock. Having begun education at the Yakama Reservation in Washington, Richard completed his studies at McClain High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he showcased his athleticism by running track and playing football. His early years laid the foundation for a lifelong dedication to hard work and perseverance, values he carried into various roles throughout his career.
Richard held many jobs during his lifetime, including roles in janitorial work and security, but his true passion lay in farming and nurturing the land around him. He found solace in working outdoors, whether it was planting a garden filled with vegetables or cultivating beautiful flowering plants. His connection to nature reflected his vibrant spirit and desire for growth, both in the earth and in those he loved.
He was a man who knew the value of joy and laughter. Richard was known for his playful personality, and his sense of humor brought happiness to many. He cherished moments spent with family and was often the jokester among them, delighting in lighthearted banter and playful teasing with those he held dear.
Richard leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Hootowl Blalock, and his children: Richard Allen Blalock, Jr., and fiancee Cindy; Catrina Smith and husband Sam; Michael Lee Johnson; Christina Ann Glenn; and Kelly Wayne Glasco. In addition to his children, he is survived by his siblings Harold Eugene Blalock, Jr., Norman Blalock, Cliff Henry Blalock, Tina Halfmoon, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended family members who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Eugene Blalock, Sr. and Norma Lee Blalock, along with his siblings Sherman Blalock, Jimmy Blalock, and Linda McClellan. Their memories, along with Richard's legacy, will live on through the stories shared and the love that continues to flourish within his family.
