Born February 20, 1927 in Pataskala, Ohio to Carl and Frances (Gilfillan) Kaufman, Richard spent most of his school years in Ohio. When his father was presented with a job opportunity, the family moved to Colorado and Richard finished his schooling there, graduating from high school in Englewood. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War. On August 6, 1953, Richard married Mary Eveline Stahl and the couple was blessed with seven children. After his honorable discharge, Richard returned to Colorado and worked at several places before beginning a career with the fire department. He worked as a fireman until his retirement and then he moved his family to Oklahoma and this has been home since.
Never one to relax, Richard kept busy tinkering in his shop, woodworking, and when younger he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also helped his wife with the garden and mowed his own lawn. Richard and Mary also spent time traveling together.
Those family members that survive include his children Robert Leroy Wolf and wife Sue, Phyllis Davidson and husband Don, David Kaufman and wife Martha, and Cindy Land and husband Sam; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his brother Wayne Kaufman and other extended family members.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sons Timothy Kaufman, Lynnie Kaufman and Lonnie Kaufman; his wife Mary, and two great-granddaughters.
