Service for Richard “Red” Robertson will be 3:00p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, October 8, from 1pm-8pm, with family receiving visitors from 6pm-8pm. Red passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was 78.
Richard Wayne “Red” Robertson was born on May 22, 1946, in Claremore, Oklahoma, Red was the son of Edwin "Speck" and Georgia (Thompson) Robertson. From an early age, he was deeply rooted in his hometown, where he was raised and educated.
Red's career spanned over two decades at McDonnell Douglas, where his dedication and work ethic were well recognized. In addition to his time at McDonnell Douglas, he owned several businesses, including Fast ThRed's, a business that thrived for over a decade, leading to the opening of a 2nd store, City Auto Sales, Green Country Suzuki, and served as manager at Sonic Tires, demonstrating his versatility and entrepreneurial spirit throughout his professional life.
On March 26, 1965, Red married the love of his life, Oweta Lou Hoge, and together they celebrated an enduring marriage of 57 years. Their partnership was a testament to the love and commitment they shared, and their bond was evident to all who knew them.
A man of many passions, Red found joy in drag racing, working with and owning horses, and watching football. He treasured the moments spent with his family, always seeking opportunities to create lifelong memories together. Travel was also a significant part of his life; he and Oweta often visited Wichita Falls and Branson, and embarked on numerous cruises, revealing their adventurous spirits.
Red is survived by his children: Rusty Robertson and wife Michelle, Dale Robertson, and Jammi Parsons and husband Tony. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Stormy Robertson and wife Sarah, Kelsey Robertson, Tori Phelps and husband Jacob, and James Parsons, along with five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Mike Robertson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Oweta, his parents, and his brother Nelson Robertson.
