Rick Tosh was born July 12, 1955, in Miami, OK. He died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 62.
Rick grew up in Eucha, OK, and started school at Jay. From an early age Rick rode any four-legged animal that he could crawl on. The family moved several times, and Rick ultimately graduated from high school in Fallon, NV in 1973.
That summer he hitch-hiked back to Eucha, and started to rodeo full time. He competed in saddle bronc riding and team roping at rodeos across the Midwest, Texas, Oklahoma, and California. When travelling with Rick he would often point out a town and say, “I won the bronc riding there,” or, "I got on #66 there. Liked him every time I drew him."
Rick was a cowboy. That is all he ever wanted to be in life. He was a good horseman. He could build a bridle or a barn, a fence or a loop, and he loved to spin-up a good wild west tale and laugh with his friends. He was always ready to lend a hand to someone who needed it. Never wanted credit; just to help out.
His greatest joy was when adopted son Eric Smith came into his and Lil’s lives. Rick went to most of Eric’s class trips, sporting events, and FFA activities. He loved nothing more than having Eric with him while they took care of the cattle.
Rick was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Chelsea, and the restaurant ranchers club of Jiffy Mart.
He is survived by his wife Alaine “Lil” Dye and son Eric Smith. Brother Steve Tosh and wife Kathy of Wickenberg AZ, sister Vickie Horton and husband Phil of Eucha, OK. Brother-in-law Allan Dye and wife Sandy, Sister-in-law Linda Nelson, Mother-in-law Peach Dye.. Nephews Stephen Lee Tosh, Jason Horton, and nieces Stephanie Tosh, Allyson Stout, Ashley Bullock, Patsy Guerrero, Brandi Cook, Wendy Nelson and Amanda Nelson as well as numerous cousins. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Donzella Tosh.
