Ricky passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on May 17, 1949, in Adrian, Michigan, to Robert and Dorothy (Hill) Attebury. His family later settled in Oklahoma, where Ricky spent most of his childhood. They lived briefly in Seminole before moving to Claremore, where he attended school and graduated with the class of 1967.

After high school, Ricky attended Okmulgee Tech before deciding to serve his country. He joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably for 10 years, spending his final two years aboard the USS John F. Kennedy.

During his high school years, Ricky met the love of his life, Renee. The two were married at Ricky's grandfather's house, where his grandfather, a Methodist preacher, officiated the ceremony. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.

After his service in the Navy, Ricky worked in the maintenance division of the United States Postal Service (USPS). He devoted over 30 years to his work before retiring.

Ricky was a simple man. He had a passion for cars, woodworking, and history. Visiting historical sites and battlefields became one of his favorite pastimes, and he built furniture for both of his daughters when they moved out of the house. However, Ricky’s greatest joy came from his family. Spending time with his children and grandchildren brought him the most happiness.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Attebury, and his sister, Rhonda Fry.

He is survived by his loving wife, Renee; his daughters, Rayna Johnson and husband Scott, and Erika McKnight; his grandchildren, Brittany Venters and husband Eric, Whitney Mayfield and husband Ryan, Emily Hudgens and husband Mitch, Mason McKnight, and Bailey Johnson; his brothers, Randy Attebury and wife Rita, and Bobby Attebury; his sister, Robin Hefley; seven great-grandchildren and many other extended family members.
