Funeral service for Robert Raymond Paget will be 2 p.m., Tues., April 16, at Sandusky Avenue Christian Church with Rev. Tom Jones officiating. Burial with military honors by the U.S. Air Force will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Mon. 1-8 p.m.
Robert passed away Thurs., April 11, 2013, at his home at the age of 90.
The son of Forest Mahlon and Mildred (Reed) Paget was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Ft. Smith, AR. Robert grew up in Vinita, and graduated from Vinita High School. While in high school he played tuba in the band. After high school, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He served as a radio operator, and played in the marching band. On June 12, 1953, he married Betty Jean McGinnis in Tulsa. They made their home in Tulsa, before moving to Claremore in 1972. Robert earned a business degree from Tulsa University, and went to work as a credit manager for Standard Industries. He later opened his own business, Paget Decorating Service. Upon retirement, he helped his wife at her business, B.J. Optical. Robert was a member of Sandusky Avenue Christian Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir. He also enjoyed playing many instruments including piano, organ, and the harmonica. Every year Robert had a wonderful garden where he grew all kinds of vegetables.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jean Rudd.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; children: Retired Colonel Rhonda Bridge and husband, retired Lieutenant Colonel Mike of Kittainning PA, Scott Paget of Boatman, and Nancy Hart and husband, Melvin of Talala; his twin sister, Betty Stanbaugh of Tulsa; sister, Nancy Morris and husband, Roy of Boulder, CO; grandchildren: Harley Swan, Megan Hart, Britney Hart, Lesley Cauthan and husband, Sean, Nickie Gay and husband, Thomas, and Ashley Paget; and great-grandchildren: Madison Cauthan, Claire Cauthan, Max Cauthan, Piper Bryeze Gay, Thomas Hawk Gay, Journey Rose, Jolie Dale, and William Tripp.
