Memorial service for Robert Eugene Phillips will be 11 a.m., Fri., April 30, 2010, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Michael Clark officiating.
Robert passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at St. John’s Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 79, with his family by his side.
The son of James Howard and Edoth Mae (Dale) Phillips was born June 22, 1930, in Foyil. Robert graduated from Foyil High School. He earned his Associates degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University, and his Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma. Robert loved being an educator. He served as a teacher and administrator at Oologah, Chelsea and Catoosa, before retiring as Superintendent of Hilldale Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On Feb. 13, 1982, Robert married Edna Marie White and they have made their home in Bixby. He enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, dove hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and teaching his grandsons to hunt. He also looked forward to Fridays when he would enjoy lunch with his Foyil schoolmates. Robert was a 32nd degree Mason.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of the home; son, Chuck Jarvi and wife, Deanna of Broken Arrow; daughters: Jacklynn Hoplight and Mike Sandoval of Tulsa, and Kristene Quick and husband, Steve of Wisconsin; and grandchildren: Chase Philip Jarvi, Kennedi Jarvi, Chandler McDaniel, Ethan Sandoval, and Grayson Jarvi.
