Ron passed away February 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by family, at the age of 72.
The son of Roy Leo and Maxine Pace Hicks was born January 4, 1943 in Alluwe, Oklahoma. At a young age his family moved to the Claremore area. There he began attending Claremore Public Schools. While in high school Ron excelled at track and football, while also playing in the band. He was a member of the graduating class of 1961. Upon graduation Ron continued his education by enrolling in college at Oklahoma State University. A few years later he transferred to Northeastern State University where graduated in 1965 with a degree in History. Eager to begin working, he took a job teaching and coaching at Nowata Public Schools. At this time he was also serving in the Air National Guard. Although he was working in Nowata, Ron frequently came back home to Claremore to see his girlfriend Sue Musgrove. They would marry July 29, 1966 at the First Christian Church in Claremore. After a few years of teaching Ron began working as a claim adjuster for State Farm Insurance out of Tulsa. He held that job for the next several years. He was then accepted into Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis in 1976. After completing his Doctorate in Chiropractic, Ron began practicing with his brother-in-law in Hinton, Oklahoma. Later he opened a practice in Sallisaw, and eventually made it back to Claremore in the early 1980's when he purchased Claremore Chiropractic from Dr. Owens. Ron worked in Claremore until semi-retiring in 2009 after his sons, followed his footsteps into the Chiropractic care. He was always proud that he and both of his sons were able to operate in one clinic together until he fully retired in 2011. In his spare time Ron loved to watch Oklahoma State football and basketball. For many years he traveled to many games in both football and basketball with his family. When his grandchildren were born they opened a new world for him. He made sure that if at all possible he never missed any event that they participated in. He is remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and papa.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Maxine.
Survivors include his wife Sue Hicks of the Home; sons, Dr. Brian Hicks and wife Myeesha of Jenks, and Dr. Cory and wife Molly of Owasso; grandchildren Alex, Aidan, Tanner, Monique, Brock, Addsion and Brody, brother, Jimmy Lee Hicks and wife Sheryl of Talala and sister Suzanne Higgins from Weatherford.
