Rosa Mae Adair

July 4, 1937 — June 15, 2024

Chelsea

Rosa Mae Adair, born on July 4, 1937, peacefully passed away at her home in Chelsea, Oklahoma, on June 15, 2024, at the age of 86. She was born at home in Alluwe, Oklahoma, where she spent her early years on the family farm. During World War II, her family moved to the Jenks area of Tulsa due to her father's work with Douglas Aircraft. After the war, they returned to Alluwe where Rosa attended and graduated from Alluwe High School as the Salutatorian of her class in 1954.

Rosa married Kenneth "Whimp" Adair after graduation, and together they had three children: Rick, Lisa, and Gina. Her career began in Chelsea, where she held various positions with Fraley Insurance, Bank of Chelsea, and the local electric company. Her true passion, however, came when she joined the town of Chelsea, serving as an associate town clerk and later as town clerk for 30 years. She was the longest serving city clerk in Oklahoma, having been re-elected seven times. She also served as the pension board clerk for the Chelsea firefighters.

On October 19, 1973, Rosa married Bill Adair, with whom she made her home in Chelsea. They cherished their Friday night date nights as a way to spend quality time together. Rosa enjoyed the outdoors, tending to her garden and flowers, and she found joy in occasional trips to the casino and traveling. Among her favorite destinations were Branson, and memorable road trips to Montana and California. Rosa also loved showing her support to her favorite sports teams, the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Above all, Rosa treasured time spent with her family. She loved hosting gatherings, especially during holidays like Christmas and birthdays. She adored babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in their presence.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Pauline Lewis, her husband Bill Adair, and great-granddaughter Madison Moore.

She is survived by her son Rick and wife Shirley, daughters Lisa Park and husband Daryl, and Gina Adair, grandchildren Monica Lewis, Jennifer Greene and husband Jeff, and Jordan Park, and great-grandchildren Lilli Lewis, and Makayla, Mason, and Maddox Greene. She is also survived by sisters Alma Pattison and husband Homer, Sue Gueco and husband Randy, and brother Jack Lewis and wife Mary, along with numerous other family members.
