Memorial service for Roy Ross House will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Charles Ragland will share words of comfort. Roy passed away at St. John Medical Center on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. He was 73.
Born June 13, 1943 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Joseph Austin and Babe (Williams) House, Roy was reared and educated in his birth community. Graduating Lawton High School with the class of 1961, Roy continued his education by attending Cameron University and Oklahoma State University. He enlisted with the US Marines and served his country during the Viet Nam War.
Following his honorable discharge, Roy worked at Ft. Sill, learning the skill as an automotive mechanic. His mentor and teacher during this time was Grady Rogers. Roy moved to Claremore in the 70's and open his own garage, "Roy's Repair House".
Roy was a car enthusiast, and loved being around anything with a motor. He raced cars, motorcycles and boats, and enjoyed going fast. Roy had a soft spot for animals and would give a home to about any dog or cat that came around. He particularly loved his cat "Lugnut" and dog "Girly". Family was most important to Roy and he was most proud of his daughter, Mandie.
Family members that survive include his daughter Mandie House of Talala; his sister Mary Lee House Coleman and husband Bob of Lawton; his niece Jodie Adams also of Lawton. Roy was preceded in death by his parents.
