Funeral services for Ruby Gladys Ridenour will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00-8:00 p.m.at the funeral home and family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Ruby passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Medical Center of Plano in Texas at the age of 92 years and one month.
The youngest daughter of W.L. and India Victory, Ruby was born on November 22, 1921 in Creek County Oklahoma. The family later moved to the Chelsea area where Ruby attended Sunny Side School. She married Clifford Ridenour, a member of the U.S. Navy, on May 3, 1944. To this union was born two sons and one daughter.
Ruby lived the life of a career military spouse for 26 years As a busy homemaker she joined her husband serving at a variety of duty stations throughout the United States. In 1967 Clifford retired from the Navy and they relocated to Plano, Texas where she lived until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford, son Steven Anthony Ridenour , and siblings: Calvin Victory, Ethel Copeland, Wilma Victory, Edith Wilson, Pansy Wilson, Georgie Victory, Lois Brumback and Pete Victory.
Her survivors include her son, Randy Ridenour, her daughter, Linda Irvin, and granddaughter, Laurie Irvin, all of Plano, Texas as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
