Funeral service for Rushia (Rue) Belle Fivecoats will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Rushia passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Muskogee at the age of 94.
The daughter of John and Ida Kennon Seaman was born September 27, 1920 in Claremore. As a young girl she was raised in Claremore, and attended Claremore public schools. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart Carl Fivecoats. They made their home in Claremore, and began raising their family. Once her children got older she decided to return to work. She started by opening a cafe known as Rue's Chili Hut. After several years she sold her business and began working for Montgomery Ward. Later she and Carl decided to move to Colorado. They lived there for around 4 years before moving back to Oklahoma, and eventually moving back to Claremore. However 7 years ago after the death of her husband she moved to Muskogee to be near her daughter. In her spare time Rue loved doing crafts especially making dolls. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Kennon Seaman; husband, Carl Fivecoats; daughter, Barbara Fivecoats; son, Johnny Fivecoats; brother, Truman Seaman, and sister Geneva Burton.
Survivors include her daughters, Saundra Summerhill and husband Roger of Muskogee, and Karen Tapp and husband Alan of Arvada, Colorado; grandchildren, Dawn Cash, Barbara Vaughan, Mark Fivecoats, Jennifer Fivecoats, Kevin Summerhill, Kelly Tapp, Leslie Spencer, and Melissa Flygare; 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
