Ruth Leora Burns

Funeral service for Ruth Leora Burns will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the MMS-Payne Chapel. Pastor Mike Schroeder will officiate.
Ruth passed away Friday May 23, 2014 at the age of 104.
The daughter of Joseph Ryan and Nannie Magnus Ryan was born October 5, 1909 in Asher, Oklahoma. As a young girl she was raised, and attended school in Sand Springs. It was there that she met Jack Burns. They married and continued living in Sand Springs. She worked for Bell telephone for many years before her retirement. After her retirement she then took another job working for Sand Springs Home Interest. In the mid 1970's after her husband passed away, she decided to move to Claremore to be near her son Ron. She then enjoyed spending time with her friends and traveling to California.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Nannie Ryan, and grandson Gary Burns.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Burns and wife Jeanette of Claremore; son, Larry Burns of Vinita; grandchildren, Michael Burns of Tulsa, and Stephanie Cobb of Leavenworth, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Wade Cobb, Kelsey Nitchell, Ashley Zinter, and Amber Odell, and great-great-grandchildren, Braelyn Odell, Westley Burns, Whitney Burns, Chloey Burns, and Michaela Burns.
