Funeral service for Ruth Marilyn Thurman will be 2 p.m., Wed., Feb. 29, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Ed Dowty officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Ruth died Sun., Feb. 26, 2012, at Wood Manor Nursing Home at the age of 85.
The daughter of Frederick John and Mildred Laura (Steinkamp) Steinmeyer was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Topeka, KS. Ruth married Clyde Anderson Thurman and they made their home in Rogers County in 1975. Ruth worked for the American Cancer Society as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rogers County Extension Homemakers, and Firefighters Auxilliary. She enjoyed dollmaking and belly dancing; and took D.J. and computer courses at the Vo-tech.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Lucille Casebier; and a great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children: Susan Anderson and husband, Gene of Eudora, KS, Kent Frederick and wife, Linda of Topeka, KS, Mike Frederick of Tulsa, Kevin Frederick and wife, Leigh of Claremore, and Sara Dowty and husband, Steve of Claremore; sisters: Laura Pierce and Marjorie Hale both of Topeka, KS; 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
