Born August 7, 1972 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Donald Edward Charles and Goldie Edith (Foster) Littlejohn. Shane moved from Tahlequah to Claremore, where he started the 5th grade. He graduated with the class of 1990 from Claremore High School. Shane continued his education at RSU and Langston Universities, receiving his Bachelors of Criminal Justice in 1995. He had worked in construction during his school years. Shane worked as a self-employed paint contractor through the years.
In October of 1994, Shane met Catrena Bailey and the couple married on December 19, 1997, and made their home in Claremore where they have been raising their three daughters. Shane was a people person; he could make conversation with anyone and made friends with about everyone he met. His presence would light up a room and folks just enjoyed being around him. Shane was very talented - singing constantly and learned to play the fiddle at a young age. He had several bands along the way; Back Roads Band, Shane Charles & Western Justice, Oh Brother (with his brother Faron), and 44 West. He was an entertainer at heart who enjoyed making people smile. Shane enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. He and his Dad went elk hunting in Colorado almost every fall. His life revolved around his family and friends. He was most proud of his girls and loved spending time with them.
Family members that survive him include his wife Catrena; his daughters Krista "Page" Charles, Taylor Don Charles and Hailey Ashton Charles all of their home in Claremore; his parents Don and Leveda Charles of Claremore and Goldie and Dewayne Littlejohn of Stillwell; his siblings Donna Lynn Charles of Tulsa, Faron Ray Charles and wife Cheryl of Inola, Blake Wesley Charles of Claremore; Jay Littlejohn and wife Michelle of Tahlequah, honorary son/nephew Trett Charles of Collinsville; grandmother Mildred Hamilton of Proctor, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, in-laws, and a host of friends and band mates.
Shane was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joe and Lucy Padgett Charles, maternal grandparents George and Teatsie Dandridge Foster, and sister Jeanette Littlejohn.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up at RCB Bank for those who wish to contribute.
