Joan passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Willard Walker Hospice Home, Fayetteville, AR, at the age of 69.

The daughter of Dan R. and Ora Cravatt Gourd was born June 10, 1947 in Claremore. Over the next several years she was raised in Tulsa before, moving to Jay when she was 11 years old. She then began attending Jay Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1965. Upon graduating, Joan attended beauty school, and attended Northeastern State University where she studied to be a social worker. In between these times, she met Bud Neal and had two children, Cody & Keeta.

Joan worked hard to support her 2 children, sometimes working multiple jobs. Many of her jobs involved dealing with the public. This worked out great for her, because she loved visiting with people. She was known to have a great sense of humor, and never met a stranger.

In her spare time Joan loved dancing, sewing, visiting with friends, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dan and Ora Gourd, and brothers, Ivan and Bob Gourd.

Survivors include her children, Cody and Keeta Neal both of Jay; grandson, Clayton Neal of Wichita Falls, TX, Colton Box of Jay. Sisters, June Holcomb and husband Max of Quapaw, and Janet and Jim Patterson of Chelsea. Nieces and nephews, Marty and Chad Holcomb, Jamie Rhodes, John Patterson, and Jody Patterson.
