Funeral service for Sharon Marie Rice will be held, 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Pastor David Erwin will officiate. Burial will follow at Chelsea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Rice passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the age of 72.
The daughter of Charlie and Alma Crockett Hawkins was born May 30, 1938 in Vinita, Oklahoma. There she would spend her childhood. In 1956 she graduated with honors from Vinita High School. A short time later she met Clyde Rice. They were joined in holy matrimony on November 10, 1956. The years that followed led Sharon to work a few small jobs. However in 1969 she began a career with Bell / ATT. She was a dedicated employee throughout her 24 years of service maintaining perfect attendance. After retirement she devoted herself to her husband, family and home. Her hobbies included going camping at Flint Ridge, fishing and spending time with her family.
She will be remembered as a woman who opened her heart to all with love and friendship. A very giving and caring wife, mother, daughter, and friend who shared many beautiful memories.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Alma Hawkins.
Survivors include her husband Clyde of the home; sons, Larry Rice and Garry Rice of Chelsea; daughter, Donna Costello and husband Richard of Edmond; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie Hawkins of Tulsa, Jerry Hawkins of Claremore, Fred Hawkins of Edgewood, New Mexico, Samantha Clark of Longview, Texas, and LaVanna Morgan of Olean, New York, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
