Services for Shawn Walton will be 11:00a.m., Friday, July 31, 2015 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, Charlie Lehman and Weldon Foster will share words of comfort. Burial will follow at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 1pm--8pm Thursday, July 30 at the funeral home with family receiving visitors from 6pm--8pm. Shawn passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the age of 45.
David Shawn Walton was born April 9, 1970 in Claremore, to John Thomas Walton, Jr. and Kathy (Johnson) Walton, he received his education at Sequoyah Schools and while there he was on the football team and also played in the band. Shawn graduated with the class of 1988. He continued his education by attending Tulsa Community College.
Shawn was a hard worker and began working while in high school. He worked for Claremore Discount Foods as a bagger. Shawn was quite fast at his trade and even won first place in the best bagger competition. During his school years, Shawn loved spending his summers at church camp, where he was the tether ball champion. Following his schooling, he worked for Hale-Halsell for a few years and then began a job with Ford Glass Plant, during this time he owned a tanning salon, called Hot Tan. Later Shawn began working for Gellco, where he was a manager.
Family and friends were his priority, and he enjoyed spending time with them. He coached a softball team and loved most all sports. He was an avid OU fan as well as a Dallas Cowboy fan. During basketball season he rooted for the OKC Thunder. He loved being outdoors and spending time on the lake. Shawn was a loyal and dedicated friend that you would always be there for you with a smile on his face.
Those family member that survive include his mother, Kathy Walton of Claremore; his sister Shelly Brown and husband Ryan also of Claremore; his grandmother Virginia Walton of Claremore; his nephews Jacob Brown and wife Hannah, Jesse Brown and wife Megan and his niece Jodi Brown and many aunts, uncles and cousins and numerous friends. Shawn was preceded in death by his father John Walton, Jr. and his grandparents, John Walton, Sr. and Herman and Mary Jane Johnson.
