Shearl, also know as Sherry to many, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the age of 69.
The daughter of Robert and Myrtie Tew Simmons was born January 29, 1948 in Plant City, Florida. She was raised in Mulberry, Florida, where she graduated high school in 1966. A short time later, Shearl met and married Warren Haddock. They made their home in Mulberry, where Shearl's time was spent taking care of her family. After the passing of Warren, Shearl moved her family to Lakeland, Florida. There she obtained her Commercial Drivers License. She then began working for the city of Lakeland as a bus driver. Over the next several years, Shearl drove a school bus, and had a route for the city.
It was also while living in Lakeland that she met Jerry Withrow. They married on April 5, 2001. Wanting a change, Shearl and Jerry began looking for a new home. So after taking a trip to Oklahoma to see Jerry's brother, they decided to move there. They bought a house in Big Cabin in 2006, and quickly made it their home. Ready to return to work, Shearl took a job driving a special needs school bus for Chelsea schools. She loved this job and all the children she was able to transport.
Shearl had many hobbies that she enjoyed. Cooking, sewing, and raising vegetables were a few of her favorites. She also enjoyed helping Jerry with his honeybees, as well as spending time with her women's group from Big Cabin. She also enjoyed working in the nursery at Big Cabin Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Haddock; parents, Robert and Myrtie Simmons, and brother, Charles Simmons.
