Sherman Arthur Hanes

April 24, 1932 — August 4, 2012

Funeral service for Sherman Arthur Hanes will be 10 a.m., Wed., at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel with Rev. Thomas Schulze officiating. Burial will follow at Sageeyah Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tues. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-7 p.m.

Sherman died Sat., Aug. 4, 2012, at St. John Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 80.

The son of Arthur Cicero and Anna Katheryn (Eye) Hanes was born April 24, 1932, in Claremore. He graduated from Claremore High School in 1950, and continued his education at Oklahoma State University. He received his Masters Degree in Trade and Industrial Education. Sherman served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On July 1, 1956, Sherman married Virginia Sue Watt in Pryor. Sherman worked for Tulsa Tech Center, retiring in 1997 after 23 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Kevin Hanes and wife, Tami; brothers: Forest Hanes and wife, Bonita, Floyd Hanes and wife, Jan, and Robert Hanes and wife, Julie; grandchildren: Henry, Alan, Heather, Cody, and Hunter Hanes, and great-grandchildren: Braden Garza, Kadence Pittman, and Jennifer Pittman.
