Services will be at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea on Friday March 31st at 2 P.M., with Clifford House officiating. Burial will follow in Winganon Cemetery under the direction of Chelsea Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 1-8 P.M. Thursday, March 30th at the Chelsea Funeral Home. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
Shirley Joanne Branstetter went to be with the Lord on March 26th, 2017 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 82, surrounded by her family.
The daughter of Judd and Sylvia "Honey" Evelyn (Beck) Leathers was born on August 18th, 1934 in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She was raised in the Alluwe area, where she would graduate Alluwe High School in 1952. Wanting to continue her education she attend Draughan Business School in Tulsa before working for Phillips Petroleum and Rita Pump in Bartlesville. Joanne then worked at the First National Bank in Chelsea before becoming a homemaker.
She married Clyde Earl Branstetter in Miami, Oklahoma on January 17th, 1959. The newly wed couple then made their home together in Chelsea.
Her hobbies and interests included cooking for her family, ceramic painting, needlepoint stitching, reading books, keeping up on Facebook, playing card games such as 313 and pitch, traveling to Branson, spending time with friends and family, and spoiling her grandkids. She was also an avid fan of George Strait, attending his concerts whenever she could.
She is survived by her husband Clyde of 58 years, son Mike Branstetter and wife Lynda of Chelsea, grandchildren, Alicia Robertson and husband John of Skiatook, Jerry and Tyler Branstetter of Chelsea, great-grandson Grant Christian Robertson of Skiatook, and great granddaughter soon to arrive Amelia Jo Robertson.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, and son Doyle, all of Chelsea.
