Funeral service for Shirley Collins will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 4, at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory.
Shirley passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Wood Manor Nursing Home at the age of 83.
The daughter of Willard and Tressie Chanslor Neal was born October 25, 1927 in Bellflower, California. She graduated from Excelsior Union High School, Norwalk, CA. A short time after graduation she met John Cloyd “Bud” Collins. They were married in June of 1946. She began working for International Paper, and later for Norwalk-LaMirada Schools. In 1973, Shirley and Bud moved to Verdigris. She began working for Akin Distributing and later for Delphi in the security department. She retired in 2006 after years of service. In her spare time she loved to play bingo, crochet, go shopping, garden, read and cook, but spending time with friends and family was her favorite. She attended Verdigris Assembly of God.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Tressie; husband, John; sons, Terry Collins and Randy Collins; and son-in-law, Claude Boudreaux.
Survivors include her children, Wynell Boudreaux of Claremore, John Collins, Jr. of Verdigris, and Greg A. Collins and wife, Nancy of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: Robert Blanchette and wife, Jane, John Collins, III, and Meagan Collins; and great-grandchildren, Gabriella Blanchette, Dusty Blanchette, Payton Blanchette and Sam Blanchette; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
