Funeral service for Shirley Ann Mizer will be 2 p.m., Mon., July 8, at Chelsea Assembly of God with Revs. Jack Damico and Brother Lynn Beeson officiating. Burial will follow at Winganon Cemetery under the direction of the Chelsea Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun. 1-6 p.m.
Shirley passed away Wed., July 3, 2013, at her home at the age of 79.
The daughter of William A. and Dorothy L. (Ballard) Whiteside was born March 25, 1934, in Cherokee Central. She attended Bushyhead schools through the 8th grade, and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1951. On Feb. 9, 1952, she married John Ross Mizer in Cherokee Central. Shirley worked at the sewing factory in Chelsea, Wa Ro Ma for 10 years, and Gatesway Foundation for several years. Shirley loved cooking Sunday dinners for the entire family, making Christmas candy and sugar cookies. She also enjoyed doting on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shirley looked forward to the family reunion the week of Father's Day at Spencer Creek campgrounds each year. Shirley was a member of the Nazarene Church of Chelsea.
She is survived by her husband, John of the home; children: Randy Mizer and wife, Sandy of Chelsea, and Johnna Mizer of Claremore; grandchildren: Lyslie Ann Lewellen and husband, Jerry, Eric Mizer and wife, Katy, and Randa LeAn Wilkins and husband, Weston; great-grandchildren: Hunter Nixon, Bryanna Wilkins, Brittany Wilkins, Sydney Lewellen, Ethan Wilkins, Liberty Mizer, and Reagan Mizer; siblings: Wanda Couch and husband, Earl of Chelsea, Bill Whiteside and wife, Ynema of Adair, June St. John of Talala, Delores Green of Chelsea, and Diana Raley and husband, Delbert of Stigler.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; and aunt, Lillian Burns.
