Funeral service for Shirley Joan Nipper will be 2 p.m., Fri., Jan. 14, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.
Shirley died Sun., Jan. 9, 2011, at her home at the age of 73.
The daughter of Harley and Maggie (Williams) Copeland was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Cherryvale, KS. Shirley graduated from Cherryvale High School, and continued her education at Oral Roberts University. On July 18, 1958, she married George Thomas Nipper in Lamar, MO. They made their home in Tulsa before moving to Memphis, TN, and later, Ft. Worth, TX. After her husband passed away in 1995 she moved back to Tulsa. Shirley was a member of Church on the Move. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, George in 1995; her parents; and brothers: Jack, J.R., and Pete Copeland.
She is survived by her sons: Bradley Thomas Nipper of Catoosa, and Robert Harley Nipper of Broken Arrow; brother, Daryl Copeland and wife, Kay of Coffeyville, KS; sister, Viola Throckmorton of Kansas City, KS; granddaughter, Stephanie Zongker and husband, Jason of Broken Arrow; and great-grandchildren: Jamie, Austin, and Sierra Zongker.
