Shirley Reu Steidley

Memorial service for Shirley Reu Steidley will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at First Christian Church with Pastor Charles Ragland officiating.

Shirley died Sat., Sept. 10, 2011, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 70.

The daughter of G.A. and Margaret (Marney) Berry was born Sept. 5, 1941, in Claremore. Shirley graduated from Claremore High School on May 22, 1959. On Nov. 4, 1965, she married Larry Russell Steidley, Sr. in Miami; and they made their home in Claremore. Over the years Shirley worked in several area businesses, including: Mid-Continent Casualty, OK Grain/Garvey Grain, Russell's Mobile Homes, and Pixley Lumber. She was also a homemaker, and helped run the family farm and ranch operation. Shirley enjoyed cooking, fishing, and crocheting.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents; and brothers: David and Lloyd Berry.

Shirley is survived by her son, Larry Steidley, Jr. and wife, Janice of Claremore; sisters: Margaret Gustafson and husband, Dennis of Deer Creek, and Nancy Chambers of Chelsea; and grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew, and Emily Steidley.
