A couple of years later the United States entered World War II, and he was assigned to the European Theater. However before he was sent overseas, he made one more trip home. Over next several years the company name changed from Skelly to Getty, Texaco, and Chevron but his loyalty never did. He retired in 1984 with over 25 years of service. In the early part of 2000 he and Wanda moved to Claremore to be near their family. Starley loved helping people. Over the years he was active organizations such as the Masons, Khiva Shriners, and the VFW. Most recently he served as a usher for Memorial Heights Baptist Church.
